The bigs hold on even in 2021

Having already addressed the pandemic crisis better than other sectors in 2020, the major Italian architecture companies have managed to grow further in 2021 thanks to a market scenario that has privileged the more structured offer in the face of the challenges of urban regeneration related to the rethinking of both housing and working and commercial types. And they have been able to recover productivity with an organization of work (even remotely) increasingly digitalized with investments facilitated by government refreshments.
From our flash survey of the 19 biggest companies that responded (all in the top 40 of last year’s ranking) 15 show growing business figures and only four suffer declines, but content. Also in 2021 Lombardini22 is confirmed first, followed by Marco Casamonti & Partners (new entry of the last ranking in addition to Archea, whose shareholders partially coincide), with third (was fourth last year), Atiproject, followed by Acpv Architects and Cmr Project. This is what we will find, with much greater breadth, in the «Report on the Italian architecture, engineering and construction industry» next November prepared by the research company Guamari.

Open Project

In 2022, OP/S.Hub (Open Project Sustainability Hub), a research centre for the regeneration and enhancement of virtuous sustainability processes, will be launched. In 2021, the company reduced its turnover slightly (3.4 million) and had an order book of 4 million and a staff of 55. Among the projects acquired in the last year stands out the Mobility & Logistic Hub, multifunctional building within MIND Milan, in collaboration with MAD Architects (a subsidiary of the Chinese group of the same name) and the second lot of 120 residential units of the complex Residenze San Lazzaro (BO). Recent openings include The Student Hotel in Bologna (361 rooms).
