The architecture of the project reflects a modern and rational character, which represents a recognizable image connected to the Consortium that operates in the construction industry.
The new headquarters of the Consorzio Cooperative Construzione in Bologna is located along Via Emilia Ponente, near Borgo Panigale, in an area formerly part of the Ducati sector. The blueprint layout sees a horizontal distribution on a simple central corridor type plan, on which are located the office spaces, divided and separated according to the organizational logic of the activities of Consortium.
The building displays a compact and rigorous volume, a parallelepiped of ten above-ground floors, preceded by three separate, transparent orthogonal bodies that house the entrance and reception area, a meeting space and a multi-functional area. Among these there are spaces just above water, which increase the visual effect of transparencies, accompanying the architecture to the garden area.
The façade facing north, on the entrance, consists of a continuous structural glass wall, which allows to understand the compartmentalization of the interiors, the distribution logic and the division of the structures. The other facades, facing east, south and west, are ventilated walls coated with layers of zinc-titanium alloy of different dimensions. The windows are characterized by an emphasized development of horizontal lines: the various cuts of the windows and the coating layers create a dynamic composition of the facades, articulated and non-repetitive.
An aspect of the buildings strong architectural characterization is evident in the structural choice that places the west face overhanging, near the public access. The zinc-titanium plates cover the oblique pilots and the intrados of the attic, forming a technological continuity image. The oblique pillar, clearly visible beyond the transparent wall, interferes with the modular grid of the structures and accentuates the architectural value of the cantilevered volume, transposing it over the entire façade.
