Il Teatro dell'Accademia di Belle Arti
Project for the restoration and re-functionalisation of the Didactic Theatre of the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna with a design approach based on the principles of critical conservative restoration, with the aim, on the one hand, of protecting the asset and, on the other, of redeveloping the interior spaces.
The Open Project comes after years of complex events involving the Theatre of the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.
A light of hope arrived only in 1956, when architect Melchiorre Bega became president of the Academy, fully endorsing the project that Professor Farpi Vignoli had outlined for the theatre and gymnasium, so much so that it was able to be brought to an advanced state of execution.
From this moment on, however, the project began a troubled life, coming to a standstill.
Only in 2023 will hope be rekindled, and it is in this scenario that Open Project's restoration and re-functioning project is set.
The design interventions aspire to return the Academy to a multifunctional and flexible space dedicated to theatrical and performance disciplines, providing for the construction of new classrooms for teaching, adaptation to health and hygiene standards, reconfiguration of the auditorium space with flexible fixed furnishings, and providing for the regulation of spaces in compliance with current fire regulations.
The project was conceived according to the principles of environmental sustainability, with the aim, on the one hand, of protecting the property and, on the other, of making the building more energy efficient.
From a technical point of view, the project envisages a series of specialised punctual interventions within a valuable building.
With the same principle, theatrical-technical devices and acoustic furnishing elements have been inserted that will make the theatre spaces innovative and avant-garde, with the aim of guaranteeing maximum flexibility for theatrical experimentation.
