Park Tòt
Park Tòt, the Park of Inclusivity, is an urban park, a regeneration project developed in the ex-Livestock Market area of Modena, that aims to guarantee livability, quality and safe open urban spaces.
The project acknowledges the requests and indications contained in the vast PINQUA program, designated by the municipality of Modena in 2021, and seeks a solution according to potential and critical issues outlined in urban planning, in addition to respecting environmental objectives Do No Significant Harm and Minimum Environmental Criteria. The design choices are supported by precise environmental analysis and assessments aimed at adopting the best strategies in terms of climatic adaptation and resilience, demonstrating how the benefits that can be obtained have a positive impact on the usability and attractiveness of the area.
The project encompasses an area of approximately 7500m², currently defined by the interstice spaces between buildings. The proposal reverses this vision through the definition of Connecting Ground, a green lymph that expands organically in the entire area and is subject to regeneration. The Connecting Ground is the main design gesture that operates at different scales, defining functional relationships in the area and duly welcoming centers of interest and urban catalysts. The park therefore becomes inclusive green infrastructure.
The architectural concept develops the intention to create a park that is at the same time a connective urban system, capable of unifying the current free interstitial spaces between the buildings in a continuous path along which the main services are distributed, including a Healthy Garden, a Community Garden, a neighborhood greenhouse, a playground for everyone and an outdoor sports area. The areas of strategic interest for each of the activities become polar centers for the development of a spatial subdivision of blocks, modular components that allow the space to be divided into green areas, paths, and equipped areas, according to an organic and unitary design. The entire complex is based on the concept of maximum visual permeability, the compartmentalization of the areas is always composed of low architectural elements, in order to create wide-ranging open spaces, allowing for a free view of the gardens.
