Sede CNA
The new CNA headquarters in Rome is defined by distinct and compelling design characteristics. Open Project is dedicated to a theoretical and architectural analysis of the building itself, its urban and environmental conditions, and the operational methods of contemporary architecture within historical contexts.
The existing seven storey building is located in a densely populated area, with neighboring buildings that fill the adjacent lot. The architectural features define the linear construction, as seen in the structure that bends to the urban conditions of the lot without distorting its shape but that instead establishes a new relationship between the full and empty spaces surrounding it, creating a connection between transparent and opaque surfaces.
The architecture of the new CNA headquarters allows for the convergence of innovative values of the urban landscape and develops solutions for the transformation of construction and urban fabrics, where visibility combines with rationality, with a complex historical approach.
The result is a highly automated building that, together with the envelope design and the overall energy design choices, offers its users a high quality of personal comfort and optimal control of energy needs within the spaces. The photovoltaic panels integrated on the roof, transform an ecological requirement into a discrete operational function of the building cladding.
The interior design pays particular attention to the layout of the offices and the location of the meeting rooms that are strictly functional to the main activity of the national headquarters.
