Worklife Innovation Hub
The regeneration project for the ex-Tecnocentro della Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna, in Casalecchio di Reno (BO) was designed and built with the aim of creating a modern business center capable of offering functional and flexible workspaces with quality environments.
Thanks to the convenient highway access and the current public transport system in place, the Worklife complex is wonderfully connected to the airport and the high-speed train station in Bologna. Developed with a mild industrial vocation, it underwent a radical functional transformation in the mid-1980’s by the architect Vico Magistretti, who reconverted the industrial warehouse building into a tertiary information technology space for the use of a well-known bank.
The renovation of the complex, completed in 2017, involved the building envelope at the roof level, a modernization of the modular structural elements based on the tenants and the construction of green areas to maximize the livability of the work environment while safeguarding the most treasured architectural elements. Finally, significant consideration was paid to improving the energy efficiency of the entire complex, through the replacement of the MEP systems to better control interior microclimates.
Today, Worklife Innovation Hub welcomes a rapidly expanding community of high-tech industries that have headquarters there and are able to take advantage of the common support services and spaces, such as the bar, canteen, auditorium, archives, dedicated green areas and an abundant parking area. The green areas and the services provided make the complex innovative, where life and work are in constant balance.
